This is not a boring one species carp lake, it's more of an old school general course fishing venue, where you can catch Roach, Rudd, Gudgeon, Tench, Bream and have a good chance of a nice Carp every now and then, if your lucky.
We have quite a few Carp in the lake from 1/2lb up to around 13lb.
Now I know that by looking at our website it looks like the lakes absolutely full of Carp and that they're easy to catch (the trouble is people only ever send us pictures of the big fish and never of the smaller stuff, which is a shame) , well don't go kidding yourself, you will have to actually put the effort in and properly fish for them, i.e trying different baits/depths/methods to fit the conditions on the day.
********
We allow a few Day Tickets to the General Public, please ring us on 07989 819478 if you fancy a days fishing.
phone lines open from 9.30am till 8pm.

Maggot is defo the best bait to use here if your happy catching Roach, Rudd and Gudgeon all day,
luncheon meat, sweet corn, cockles & pellet has been tempting the Tench & Carp, especially if fished in the margins over a bed of ground bait, the trick seems to be loads & loads of ground baiting .
Floated Bakers dog biscuit seemed to do the trick for Kev (see catch of the day 2024 below), 8 nice carp in 5 days, all between 3 & 12lb.
If you do happen to get lucky and catch a nice fish, be it a Roach, Tench, Bream, Carp etc, please take a picture and send it to us so we can add it to our website gallery, it'd be nice to have you in the shot with the fish.
A little reminder to our lovely camp site & Cottage guests that the "Fishing is not free" , please either pay for your fishing in advance (when you get here) or on the days you fish, we promise you wont lose out by paying in advance, ie if you pay for 4 days fishing in advance but only fish for 2 or 3 days, we'll gladly reimburse you the difference.
