Weekend away from it all
My Partner and I chose Windy Ridge for a well needed weekend away in our camper in a part of the country we'd never visited before. Despite the weather being poor on arrival our welcome was warm. Barbara and Luke are perfect hosts - a lovely, friendly and helpful couple who have built a fantastic little campsite around their passion of peace, tranquility, fishing and of course birds. There are numerous free-range chickens, guinea fowl and geese which made us feel very at home. As you'd expect there's a range of eggs for sale. The facilities are excellent and very clean - although the shower was closed due to Covid we had sole use of the toilet as the 3 other camping parties had their own. We will most certainly return with family taking advantage of the new and comfortable holiday cottages and look forward to seeing how Barbara and Luke have progressed with their various projects. Apart from a perfect day of walking to Tetney marshes via Tetney Lock along the Louth canal we visited Louth and Lincoln on our way home and we were so pleasantly surprised with these hidden gems. Above all however it was Barbara and Luke that made this such a special and enjoyable weekend escape.

Windy Ridge - a little gem
Stayed 31/7/20 to 4/8/20.... Went with another couple who had stayed there last year & what a lovely little gem of a site this. Met by lovely Barbara with my 1/2 dozen pre-ordered chicken but nuggets (generally known as eggs).... the caravan area is large with plenty of space between plots & a WC/Shower thats spotlessly clean too. There are free range chickens, guinea fowl & loads of other birds roaming around the site for you to feed & watch their antics & you can buy fresh eggs too. There are 2 fishing ponds & the Lads took advantage of using them & were happy with their catch (not to mention the bacon butties & cuppas they were took!!) One chap was determined to catch "the big one that got away" so did a bit of night fishing and "got it" so was a happy chappy. Luke is always on hand & available for a chat whist doing his jobs & keeps the site well trimmed. We went to Cleethorpes, just a 10 minute car ride away, as it was during COVID-19 we felt a bit apprehensive as it was busy, but many shops & cafe's had taken many precautions to keep shoppers safe & we enjoyed the day. Will definitely go back again (if they will have us !!!) & visit some other places around the area too.

Peaceful 3 nights stay
Arrived to be greeted by Barabara, who was very warm & friendly, this was our first time on this site & it certainly won’t be the last, there is a lovely shower/toilet on site, there was an abundance of wildlife, we enjoyed feeding the ducks & chickens to which you can buy their free range eggs & what wonderful eggs they were, if you like to fish then there is 2 lakes to fish or just sit by the lakes & take in the peace & quiet & beautiful scenery.

Its just Amazing !!
Wonderful place , and wonderful hosts( Barbara and Luke ), quite hard to put into words how lovely it is to be honest, From arriving to a lovely secluded , beautiful place, and to be greeted by such lovely welcoming people. Every pitch is lovely set in a beautiful orchard , each pitch is very spacious and very private, there is so much room and open space. Its so lovely the free range chickens, ducks ,hens (cockeral ) , guineafowl are just lovely to have running around. Two lovely small fishing lakes , if you like to fish , you will be in you element £5 for the day . Honesty box where you can buy the free range hens and quail eggs , and Barbara said just feel free to pick an apple off the tree , so we did and they are just so lovely . Its just a wonderful place , only been back 3 days and already booked to go back in a couple of weeks. Just a point on the previous comments and feed back about the extra pitches that were being used ,I cant see how it is a problem, this site has so much space and just to add for £15 a night, lots of CL 5 only sites dont have any toilets or showers,( many we have visited dont and charge more), and the amenities provided here are 5 star. Ingore the negitive feed back Windy Ridge , we love your site , see you again soon x

Arrived on the weekend of Storm Colin but because the site was well sheltered we didn't have to worry . The owners were helpful and pleasent not intrusive but if we did need anything I'm sure they would have been of assistant. Within easy reach of local amenities, takeaways and the coast with the end of November been the ideal time to visit the seals at Donna Nook . Short walk round the lake which would be lovely in summer and the chickens and Guinea fowl keeping my husband and dog amused. Do try the Guinea fowl eggs when available. A peaceful relaxing site just make sure you have a torch for late night trips back to your caravan because there are no lights what so ever. This was our first stay at a CL site and if this one is anything to go by then we're in for some enjoyable ,relaxing ,peaceful stays. Will definitely visit again due to it been only an hour away.

Peace and Charm
A great find!, very friendly hosts and feathered friends. site is almost flat so great for MoHo's and plenty of space around pitches. Owners have just undertaken a huge adjacent landscaping project on site and another lake, when grassed will be a wonderful walking and picnic area. Would definitely return. Good cycling and walking in area, lovely pub at Tetney Lock, good menu and fairly priced.

What a fantastic CL site run by great people.
just returned from a 3 night stay at Windy Ridge, what a great place. we were greeted by Barbara on arrival who was very friendly and gave us some useful info on local places. The site is very well kept the grass kept fairly short with no annoying grass cuttings. The site is down a concrete lane so no annoying road noise. if you like walking then this is a great place to go, turn left out of the gate and keep walking for miles and not bump into anyone. Barbara and Luke keep chickens, Guinea Fowl ,and Quails so lots of lovely fresh eggs to be had, the Guinea fowl roam around the site which is nice to see. There is a lovely lake which has just been extended and dredged and once the grass has grown will be great to walk around . Although Barbara and Luke were obviously busy with the site and other things they always had plenty of time to chat which was nice, they truly are fantastic people with a fantastic site and we can't wait to go back. Just come back from a 2 night stay at this lovely, peaceful, adult only campsite. Can't rate it highly enough. Yes, there are no showers but it's great value for money. It took us 30 mins to walk into Tetney where you will find a chippie & The Plough Inn, but be aware that the pub does not serve food. As we were both enjoying the wine, we decided to get a taxi to The Crown and Anchor at Tetney Lock. The food here was great, generous proportions & a tranquil location. Will definitely visit the campsite again, with its vast array of ducks, geese, guinea etc

We had six days at Windy Ridge over the Easter period. First impressions is the site is isolated, located down a concrete roadway nearly 1/2 mile long. Secondly it is a very secure site with security gates. Thirdly when you get on to this small site, which is effectively one field with a fishing lake beyond, is the friendliness of the owners.
The site offers terrific value for money even allowing for the fact there is only two toilets one male and one female and no sinks or showers.
You can appreciate the effort the owners put in, the site is very clean and tidy, grass cut, with bird feeders and bird boxes across the site. However if you don't like chickens, guinea fowl and other birds running through the site, don't go to Windy Ridge. One cheeky chicken got in the campervan and started eating the dog's food and drink. If you have a dog you will never be short of a walk, with countless footpaths and field boundaries to explore. Plus of course it is very flat so ideal for cycling. Two pubs within just over a mile and a good chippy in the local village again just over a mile away.
If you want a good, basic but excellent value for money, quiet, adult only site, Windy Ridge ticks all the boxes.

Had 4 lovely days at Windy Ridge, very quiet site, lovely seeing the chickens and birds roaming round the site. Made very welcome by Barbara and Luke, they brought us leaflets of area and local take aways that deliver. Husband did some fishing but only caught 1 fish, think the cold weather put them off the feed.
Some nice dog walks, and hearing the owl at night was lovely.
On leaving it had rained during the night so found it difficult to get off but Luke came to the rescue and towed us off. Thanks Luke.
Great little cl site, toilets very clean adequate for amount of vans on site.
Would definitely go again

Had a relaxing weekend at Windy Ridge, we were made very welcome by Luke and Barbera. An information pack was provided with all local facilities and recommendations. I can't add much more than others have said. Be aware this is really in the countryside so no light pollution and very dark at night, take a torch with you. The local takeaways deliver to the site and we had a great Chinese meal delivered. Huge portions. Make sure you follow the access directions and you will be ok. Access is really good for all vehicles.
If your looking for peace and quiet with the odd hoot of an owl at night this is the place for you.
Look forward to returning and trying the pond for some fishing.

What a find and far enough away from the busy road so no noise so you can have a really good nights sleep.
First impressions always count - big security gates to the entrance and a nice touch - your name and pitch number are on a board just inside the gate so no hanging about wondering where to go.
Once settled you are visited by the owners Barbara and Luke who really make you feel welcome. There is oodles of information on where to visit, where to eat and most important of all - which is the best chippy (Waltham Chippy) which I have to say they were right it was scrummy.
Cannot comment on toilets as used our own facilities but were told that they were immaculate and they are looking at installing a shower very soon so this site will have everything you could possibly need.
Please take heed of the route instructions they have taken the time to tell you about believe me you don't want to drive down the road the satnav will take you.
Keep up the good work Barbara and Luke the site is a credit to you.

We found this site through our friend. Am so glad she found it. It's a real gem of a site. The owners Barbara & Luke are amazing nothing is to much trouble for them. They are so friendly. The wild life is amazing. The site is lovely and quiet. Just what you are looking for for. The peace and quiet. The added bonus is they have a security gate which gives you peace of mind knowing that your caravan is safe. There are loads to do in the area. Your not far from the beaches. There are quite a few places to eat from and also take aways and they will deliver to the site. We won't be long before we are back there as you don't want to leave. So chilled. The feeling is just wonderful. Thanks Barbara & Luke for making this possible

Having just spent a week on this delightful site, we can thoroughly recommend it to anyone who likes peace and quiet, and watching wildlife. It is secluded and well away from noisy roads, but only 10 minutes by car from the nearest village, with shops, pub and other amenities. There are plenty of lovely walks through the fields around the site and to the village, out along the canal, and also coastal paths, with an RSPB Reserve out on the marshes, and if this isn't enough, it even has its own lake.
The Owners, Barbara and Luke are very friendly and helpful, and do their best to make visitors feel welcome, including introductions to their menagerie of chickens, hens and the mad quails, which kept us entertained for hours.
Its an Adults Only site which added to the general atmosphere of calm serenity, and although its very tempting to 'keep it to ourselves' we felt we couldn't deny others the pleasure we experienced and after all, we can always return, and we fully intend to!

Excellent site, well looked after and very, very peaceful. Owners very helpful and friendly. We walked our dogs around the lake as well as off lead on the road leading to the site as there only seems to be traffic to the site. Good walk across the fields and by the canal to Tetney Lock. Would definitely return.

Hidden gem 5 out of 5
We are fairly new caravanners, but this is by far the best site we have visited. The owners are welcoming and friendly but not obtrusive, and they keep the grounds and the facilities immaculate. I am reluctant to leave a good review as I don't want to share our new found 'hidden gem', but in any case even if full, it would still be a quiet peaceful spot. We will definitely revisit, and try the fishing lake next time.

There are chickens and ducks milling around plus an adjoining lake where you might see the kingfishers or barn owl. Plenty of walking to be done in the area, about 2 miles to two nice pubs one in tetney and one in tetney lock.
The site is very secure having locked gates at night, pitches are good and reasonably level no problems levelling up. There are toilets, one female and one male. These are kept very clean.
One water point which is adequate, recycling area and chemical waste. There are no showers but no need if you have one. One of the best CLS we have experienced we will be returning

Amazing CL, 5 out of 5
Arrived at windy ridge to a opened gate and a very warm greeting from Barbara. Filled the motor home with water before being shown where we could park we was given two pitches and was told we can use them both and park how we liked. Barbara and Luke came to visit us later to check we had settled in ok very friendly couple and site is very clean and tidy and well looked after and the lake has grass cut short around edge so you can walk the dogs they loved it there is also a lane out where the dogs can be walked off the lead as there is only traffic from the site the seam to use this. Very quite site and we really enjoyed our stay. This CL is well worth a stay. Thank you Barbara and Luke, we will be back for a visit. Karen and Owen

I wish Luke and Barbara all the best for the future and know they will succeed
